Ministry Vision

1. Church Growth

As a newly ordained Deacon I was assigned to a church with a membership of seven.  When I was moved from that church the membership had grown to more than 150.  The membership at Mt. Calvary has grown from 50 members to more than 1,800.

Lightner-Fuller's keys to such growth:
  • Teach the people the word of God.
  • Present the Vision and grow the church from membership to discipleship.
  • Teach by example, lead with a positive attitude, teach good stewardship, and offer opportunities to fellowship and celebrate together.

2. Making Church the Hub of the Community

In 2001, we held our first annual Outdoor Evangelism Service.  Because of the evangelism service, our involvement in the local community association and ecumenical participation, members of our community have come to know Mt. Calvary as a safe haven for those in need, a place for spiritual growth and development and a place to be of service to God and the community.  When our Family Life Center is completed and opened, we will expand our services to include job readiness and computer skills development, mental counseling services, and other ministries needed to address the needs of our community.  It is so!

3. Strengthen Ministry for Youth

Mt. Calvary is home to more than 300 youth between the ages of 5 and 35.  They are led by our paid, full-time Youth Minister and are an essential part our church family.  The keys to building and sustaining a thriving youth ministry include:

  • Developing and implementing activities that support the growth of the entire being – spirit, soul and body.
  • Allowing the families of youth to participate in designing the ministry.
  • Offering relevant and engaging age-specific ministries that attract youth and young adults.
